SoRo Boys Off To a Good Start By Dustin Parker The South Royalton Royals boys’ team traveled to Hardwick to take on the Hazen Wildcats Saturday and came out victorious. Since 1993, the two teams have met seven times, with Hazen winning six of them. The only Royals win in those seven meetings was the 2005 Division Three State Championship. The Royals won Saturday with a 54-49 victory. The Royals had three players in double figures. Miles Ellis and Ki Walker each had 11 points, while Dustin Parker added 10 points. It was a dogfight of a game, the score was close the entire first half. Going into the locker room, the Royals were trailing 29-28. The third quarter was difficult for the Royals, with only four points scored. At the end of the quarter the Royals were trailing by eight, 40-32. In the final quarter, SoRo exploded with a 22-point quarter. Hazen was held to only nine points. The Wildcats’ leading scorer was Zach Bartlett with a game high 15 points. Jon Flood and Brendan Greene contributed with eight points apiece. ____________ |
