RANDOLPH—Virginia Julia MacDougall, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. She was born June 4, 1925 in Cabot, the daughter of William and Anna (Akerstrum) Martin. She attended Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph High School in 1944. She then attended Wilfred Academy (a school for cosmetology) in Boston, graduating in 1945. She married Paul MacDougall January 4, 1945 in Randolph. They lived in Bennington from 1948-1951, then moved back to Randolph, until moving to Chicago, Ill. in 1962. They lived there for 20 years, until returning to Randolph in 1982. She had worked as a hairdresser for several years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading. She also liked to buy, refinish and sell antiques. She especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and vacationing in Maine. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Preston of Braintree and Dianne Henry of Randolph; two brothers, William Martin, Jr. of Randolph and Weston Martin of Brookfield; a sister, Beverly Chapman of Randolph; two grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Cowell; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul MacDougall in 1984 and a sister, Joyce Martin. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Day Funeral Home. Rev Kathy Eddy officiated. Phyllis Hawley was the organist. Chris Reis and Rev. Eddy shared remembrances. Burial will be at a later date in the West Brookfield Cemetery.
