Sharon Elementary School Principal Sheila Moran recently announced that a program central to its philosophy has been recognized by Senator Bernard Sanders a s a model for development of a food, farm and nutrition curriculum.

In his remarks to the Senate on November 16, Sen. Sanders said, "Sharon Elementary School has also worked with Vermont FEED for three years developing food, farm and nutrition curriculum. Its principal, Sheila Moran, along with teacher Keenan Haley and food service director, Lynn Ann Perry, have been instrumental in weaving farm to school into their school culture."

In a letter to Moran, Sanders also said, "I applaud your commitment to making students aware of where their food comes for and knowledgeable about healthful dietary alternatives. That these efforts also support local Vermont farmers is an added bonus."
