Carroll Holman

RANDOLPH — Carroll L.
Holman, 87, a life-long Randolph resident, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

He was born February 20, 1920, in Randolph, the son of Leonard and Mildred (Tabor) Holman. He attended Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph High School in 1938. He then attended Dartmouth College for two years in Hanover, N.H.

Following his education, he worked at Savage’s Mill and later at Webster’s Mill, until becoming the Building Trades teacher at Randolph Area Vocational Center (now the Randolph Technical Career Center) until retiring in 1985.

He married Arlene Carpenter September 26, 1942, in Randolph. She died in 2005.

He had many interests. He enjoyed studying genealogy, coin and stamp collecting, gardening, working with computers, and woodworking and had built his own home and furniture. He also built radios and TVs, played the fiddle and taught himself to speak German. He was active with the Red Cross Blood Bank and had served as president of the Randolph Historical Society and Randolph Rotary.

Survivors include five daughters, Cheryl Carmiggelt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Laraine Macfee of McKinney, Texas, Delora Livingston of Randolph, Diane Stacy of East Barre, and Maureen Storm of Randolph Center; four sisters, Bernice Smith of Schuylerville, N.Y., Joan Kingsbury of South Burlington, Shirley Graziano of Randolph Center, and Nancy Spitler of Beaumont, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Craig Holman; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Russell Holman; and a sister, Katherine Kuhn.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home, with Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph. There are no calling hours.
