Chelsea Seniors Visit Classmate On Sunday, Nov. 4, most of the seniors at Chelsea School went to Boston to visit their classmate, Morgan Wadkins. Due to an orbital aberration, some of the seniors saw 7 a.m. suddenly become 7:45 a.m. The cause was attributed to the daylight savings time transition, but thanks to a well-oiled vehicle, Chuck, the First Student bus driver, was able to deliver the senior class (and its advisors) on time to Morgan’s hospital. The 12 students, along with advisors and Morgan's family, celebrated the visit with gifts and jokes for a couple of hours. Morgan was very happy to see all her classmates and friends, as they were to see her. "She was awake and ready and met everyone in the cafeteria," commented advisor Paul Callens. "There were even live palm trees on the patio." "Morgan was awesome. She looked amazing," wrote Heidi Hatch. "It was nice to have our senior class together again!" Willa Capobianco said, "It was good to see her smile and hear her joking around." Chelsea visitors walked a few blocks to buy lunch and carry it back to the hospital to eat with Morgan. "I think the trip to Boston was a good experience for our class, because it shows how much we really care about each other when push comes to shove," wrote Jessica Cooper. "I was so excited to go and visit her because I hadn’t seen her for a while. It was hard to say goodbye and to leave her there. I just wanted her to come back to Vermont with me." "The trip seemed to be a therapeutic event for all who went," said advisor Pam Brown. "Being able to see Morgan was good for them. It seemed to be a real boost for Morgan to see them as well. You could tell how much the kids miss her and how much she misses them. The bond of friendship knew no limits." The trip was made possible by the donation of a bus from First Student and driver, Chuck Perkins, who donated his time to drive. ____________ |
