No Decision Yet The Randolph selectboard has postponed a decision about whether to move the town offices of the former Randolph Cooperative Market space on Pleasant Street. At Monday’s regular meeting, Chairman Jim Hutchinson reported that the Municipal Building Committee has had frequent meetings and had further discussions with owner Jesse "Sam" Sammis regarding the first and second floor space Trillium Condominiums, which comprises the entire former manufacturing building. The committee now has a firm understanding of Sammis’ offer to renovate and sell the property to the Town, Hutchinson said, but needs anoher discussion to come up with a firm recommendation. The committee, which he chairs, will give its recommendation to the Selectboard at the next meeting on Dec. 3, he said. A Special Town Meeting has already been warned against the possibility that the selectboard will decide to pursue purchase of the 24 Pleasant St. property. If it does, it would represent a dramatic turnabout in planning for municipal office space. For more than five years, the Building Committee and the selectboard have been planning to expand the municipal offices where they are. The town has already appropriated $1.2 million for that project, but various lawsuits brought progress to a halt. |
