Questions Cause
Of 9/11 Collapse

This is in response to your editorial of 11/08/07 entitled "Believing in Ghosts" in which you write: "maybe they are the same folks who swear 9/11 was generated by the Bush administration so that the president could go to war and deprive us of our civil liberties."

Irrespective of "ghost stories" and regardless of any conclusions that the following information about 9/11/01 may lead one to, as a civil engineer who worked on the construction of structural steel buildings in the sixties and later taught building design and construction courses, the following facts regarding 9/11 continue to concern me and many other engineers and architects:

1. Two jet-liners flew into two World Trade Center buildings on 9/11/01, yet three WTC high-rise structural steel buildings collapsed straight down that day while maintaining a free-fall collapse speed as if the thousands of tons of structural-steel framing underneath didn't exist.

2. Building and/or jet-fuel (kerosene) fires cannot heat the structural-steel framing members of a building hot enough to cause a collapse. If a structural-steel framed high-rise building could collapse due to fire and/or plane damage, it would be a tilting, erratic and twisting collapse. It would not drop straight down and disassemble at free-fall speed. In the 100-year history of structural-steel high-rise buildings, not one building has ever collapsed due to fire.

3. Pools of molten metal (2750º+F) remained smoldering and emitting steam from under the debris for weeks after the disaster. Building/kerosene fires also cannot produce those temperatures.

4. Evidence of thermate explosives was found on 9/11 steel samples and in the 9/11 dust. Thermate will instantly create temperatures of at least 4500º F, producing high energy while instantly severing steel columns and beams.

5. Over 100 recorded witnesses reported hearing and seeing multiple explosions as the buildings collapsed.

6. Perimeter columns weighing several tons each were laterally ejected up to 500 ft from the Towers during the collapse. That is not possible without explosives.

7. The concrete, steel decking, aluminum cladding, desks, computers, etc. and many people were converted to dust and/or small pieces on that fateful day. Diesel-fuel/kerosene fires and collapsing buildings cannot by themselves cause such complete pulverization of the concrete and other elements.

Since these and many other facts contradict the government-provided and media-supported official story of the events of 9/11, more than two hundred architects and engineers (and over 500 others) are demanding an independent objective re-investigation, with subpoena power, into the collapse of the Twin Towers and WTC Building 7.
