RACC Bowling Tourney Raises Over $2,000 for Scholarships

The second annual Randolph Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Bowling Tournament last Saturday, Nov. 3 at Valley Bowl in Randolph was a great success. Twenty-six teams of five, or 130 bowlers, bowled three games each and many supporters came to watch. Scores were combined for placement and the top four teams won a cash prize, based on a pay-out for one out of every eight teams participating.

The 2007 Scholarship Bowling Tournament raised over $2000 for scholarships for Randolph Technical Career Center graduates, which will be awarded at graduation. Applications will be available in February and need to be filed by late March. Information will be available at the Career Center.

First place went to the Lucky Strikes (Jeff Irish, Brad Jarvis, Mike Corliss, Josh Smith, Pinker Patterson) with 3255 pins. The High Hitters (Randy Bradley, Chuck Hoyt, Craig Woodward, Bruce Tabor and Trevor Tabor) took second with 3189 pins. The Valley Bowl Team (Wayne Warner, Karen Warner, Bruce Tabor, Gary Bradley, Bruce Nichols) came in third with 3164 pins. Since there were so many more participants this year, a fourth place prize was awarded to the Rule Signs team (Rob Niebling, Josh Niebling, Jen Niebling, Tracy Silloway, Josh Warner).

Raffle prizes produced a three-month membership to SHAPE for Brandi Sargent, Red Sox tickets from Milne Travel for Colin Gray, a $50 savings bond from Randolph National Bank for Abbey Elkert, a Vermont Teddy Bear donated by the Vermont Teddy Bear Company for Randy Bradley, lift tickets to Jay Peak for Mandi Fournier and Gary Bradley, lift tickets to Bolton Valley for S. Kinney and gift certificates to Sambel’s Restaurant for Brent Kay and Leanne Messier. Fifteen door prizes, donated by Curves, Aramark, VTC, Valley Bowl, Sambel’s Restaurant and WCVR radio, were also awarded.

The t-shirt competition winners were the VTC Champs, Champs Tramps from WCVR and Orange Southwest Supervisory Union. Each team received t-shirts from Valley Bowl or Champ Radio, along with five McDonald’s meals.
