Prosecuting and defense attorneys agreed on Tuesday in Windsor District Court to delay again, until sometime next year, a trial for Frank Taplin, 58, of Bethel. Taplin was charged in March, following a one-day investigation, with aggravated sexual assault on a child and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. It was the second time the trial had been postponed. Jury drawing had initially been rescheduled from early September to today, November 8. However, Taplin just got a new defense attorney a month ago, after his counsel withdrew, citing conflict of interest. Atty. Daniel Sedon of Chelsea now represents Taplin. Sedon and prosecutors from the Windsor County State’s Attorney’s office agreed at a status hearing Tuesday to continue the case until next year. After posting $40,000 bail in March, Taplin was released on multiple conditions, including no contact with the alleged victim nor with anyone under 16. ____________ |
