The Rochester Rockette Ladies went into the play-off season on October 24 on their home field facing Cabot. In the first half of the game, all of Rochester’s shots couldn’t make it into the goal. But, in the second half, Rochester had a corner kick which freshman Alicia Waite scored off of. The assist went to junior Krystal Bowen. Then, just a few minutes later Bowen scored one herself with the help of sophomore Caitlin Cutting. Things started winding down, but junior Midori Cruikshank booted one in from outside the 18 off of a foul kick.
On the defensive side, senior Samantha Mishkit fed the ball numerous times and left it for the offense to take up the field. Mishkit also stopped the ball from being shot many times. Junior Megan Pratt had an amazing save with 15 seconds left in the game. Cabot couldn’t muster a goal and Rochester came out on top with a score of 3-0.
Blue Mtn. Match-up
The Rochester girls left for Blue Mountain on what seemed to be the longest bus ride ever on October 27. It wasn’t that cold of a day, but it was pouring rain the entire game.
Halfway into the first half, Waite assisted Cutting on a goal that was kicked in front of the goal a few times then finally went off the goal post and past the line. Rochester had a hand ball in the 18 and Blue Mountain took a penalty shot. Blue Mountain’s #7, Katelyn Craig, made the penalty kick to tie the game up 1-1.
In the second half, Pratt had 10 saves and Mishkit was at it again stopping multiple shots. The Rockettes and the Bucks went into sudden-death overtime. With only 45 seconds left in the first half of overtime, Bowen put the ball in the net with the assist from Cutting. Will the Rockettes be going to the finals? They played on Wednesday, Halloween in Chelsea.
Don’t forget about the potluck sports award banquet on November 8 at 6 p.m. in the Rochester gymnasium.
