Sports Boosters Fundraisers
To Assist RUHS Athletes

The Randolph Union High School Sports Boosters, which has long been a vital part of the school’s sports program, is planning to expand its fundraising and student support programs this year.

Under the leadership of Merradee Lyons and Rose Lucenti, the group will undertake some new fundraisers, starting this Saturday, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with a "coffee break" table at the southbound I-89 rest area in Randolph.

Lyons explained that the Boosters, who have traditionally given scholarships to graduating athletes, want to do more to assist high school athletes who have financial needs.

The cost of equipment or of a sports physical can be a financial barrier that keeps talented athletes from joining school teams.

With the next fundraiser just a few days away, the Boosters are asking RUHS athletes and their parents to bake a batch of cookies or bars for Saturday’s Interstate "coffee break, which could bring in up to $1000.

Baked goods can be dropped off at The Herald Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., or after 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Lucenti’s Route 66 home (call her at 728-6326 for directions.)

Or call Lyons, 276-9907, to arrange a cookie pick-up in Brookfield, East Randolph and Randolph Center.

Other Projects

Also in the works is the Boosters’ annual raffle, with tickets to be distributed around Thanksgiving, and a plan to publish and sell a booklet with directions to various high schools, for parents attending away games.
