Marlene Martin BRAINTREE—Marlene Harrington Martin, 62, of Braintree, died Monday evening, Oct. 15, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center. She was born May 24, 1945 in Putnam, Conn.; the daughter of Charles and Marion (Newth) Harrington. She was raised in Brookfield and graduated from Randolph Union High School, and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She married Duane Martin Sept. 10, 1966 in East Brookfield. They had lived in Brookfield and Randolph, before moving to Braintree in 2000. She was a registered nurse and had worked at Gifford Memorial Hospital, Barre City Hospital, and Central Vermont Hospital. She then worked as a teacher’s aide in the Randolph school system. She also worked at Tucker’s Greenhouse in Randolph, then as a medical transcriptionist at Gifford Medical Center. She was a member of the East Brookfield Congregational Church and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, Gardening, craft work, crossword puzzles, spending time with family, and going to Florida. Survivors include her husband, Duane Martin of Braintree; three sons: Jonathan Martin and his wife, Debra, of Middlebury; Jeffrey Martin and his wife, Ivey of Manchester, N.H.; and Jason Martin and his wife, Trish, of Keene, N.H.; a brother, Paul Harrington and his wife, Janet of Danielson, Conn.; and brother-in-law, LeRoy Green of Randolph; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Avery, and Jordan. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Green. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at the East Brookfield Congregational Church, with Rev. Kathy Eddy, officiating. Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the East Brookfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
