On Saturday, October 6, over 100 children converged on the soccer field at Stockbridge Central School for the Peavine Valley Soccer Tournament. It was a wonderful success. Bethel Elementary, Rochester Elementary and Stockbridge Central School each entered two teams into the tournament, which was held at Stockbridge Central School under sunny, overcast and rainy skies by the time the day was complete. All of the players played wonderfully and were shining examples of the quality soccer players that will soon emerge at the local high schools in our area. All of the players played with terrific sportsmanship and were as intense as the players on the World Cup soccer teams. Bethel teams were coached by Kaleb Orr, AnneMarie Stearns, and Maggie Eddy. The Rochester teams were coached by Verna and Peter Borden and Tammie Beattie. Stockbridge teams were coached by Karen Johnson. Many volunteers made this tournament a success, including referees Dan Levy, Corey Stearns, Paul Feeney, Pete Parrish, Brad Leathers, Abby Hurwitz, Sawyer Levy, and Hunter Paradis and timekeeper Grayson Levy. Stockbridge PTO and volunteers staffed the new concessions stand and helped with set up and clean up at the event. The Peavine Family Restaurant for sponsoring the tournament.! It is fantastic to see our communities come together and cheer on these players. Oh, and to the Canadian goose who stopped in for the game, thank you for supporting our young athletes!
