The Rockets went on their "foliage tour" as coach Brad Leathers stated this week. The boys’ soccer team traveled to Twinfield, Long Trail, and Craftsbury. But all the driving was worth it; the Rockets finished the week 2-1. The first win came in Twinfield where the Trojans took an early 1-0 lead on the Rockets. But Rochester battled back, fueled by Tanner Haskins’ two late game goals, and won the game. Game two of the week was against another power house on Rochester’s tough schedule. Long Trail’s line-up boasts nine seniors. The Rockets were able to keep the score close until the second half when Long Trail took a 6-4 lead. Rochester couldn’t bounce back. The final score was 11-4 as the Rockets were blown out. Graham Leathers had two goals to lead the Rockets, Ethan White had one, and so did fullback Taylor Fuller for his first ever varsity goal. Game three was against Craftsbury Academy. Rochester was hoping to play some of the younger players in this game to give them some experience. But Craftsbury’s late push towards the end of the game forced Coach Leathers to re-enter all of the starters to put the game away, which they did. Haskins scored the go-ahead goal as the Rockets won 5-3. Leathers had another good game putting in two goals, as did Enrique Murray with two. ____________ |
