The Hornets are back! Back from Newport with a 5-2 win over the United Christian Academy Crusaders and back form Concord with a shutout victory over their Wildcat hosts. On Sunday, Oct. 6 Whitcomb dominated the field against UCA and wasted no time as they scored 2:43 into the game when Emily Wright chipped a free kick into the net. It was also another good day for Molly Taylor, who scored three and assisted on one. Taylor scored the second goal of the game unassisted, followed by Aneta Merksbauerova’s first varsity assist to Taylor for her second deposit of the day, and then her final goal in the contest for a 4-0 Hornet shutout bid. Molly Phillips halted the shutout with back-to-back unassisted goals after the break, but that was all UCA managed. Emily Durfee completed the Hornet scoring of a Molly Taylor assist in the 5-2 contest. 2-0 Win On Monday, Oct. 8 the Hornets breezed past their Wildcat hosts 2-0. Brittany Flint scored the first goal with help from Taylor, and Taylor scored the other goal with assistance from Demi Aldrighetti. It was Aldrighetti’s second appearance this season following her convalescence for ACL surgery, and the senior is "on the move." Disappointed that she had to sit out the softball season this past spring and most of the regular season of soccer, it was a jubilant senior out on the field against TSA last week and again Monday in Concord. ____________ |
