Three Close Games
For Rochester Boys
By Liam McKinley

The Whitcomb Hornets were barely able to hold off the Rockets boys’ soccer team in a 4-3 win. Although Bethel scored first, it seemed the Rockets were going to come away with a big win, going up 3-1 early in the game.

The Hornets scored three unanswered goals to stun the Rockets at home in this upset. Tanner Haskins scored two goals for the Rockets and Enrique Murray scored one.

Rockets vs Blue Mt.

The Bucks were given a scare as they just barely squeezed past Rochester in a very close game. Rochester lost their second straight game with a score of 4-3.

The Rockets played one of their best games of the season against a very talented Bucks team. Rochester went to the ball hard in the middle and was able to match up well with Blue Mt. With the late surge from Murray’s long range goal, it looked like the Rockets might tie it up and send the game to OT. But Blue Mt. was able to control the ball for the last few minutes to put the game out of reach.

Haskins finished with two goals, and Murray had one.

Rockets Beat Twinfield

With a long drive to Twinfield it took the Rockets an entire half to work out the kinks. But when the second half rolled around Rochester was all business.

Down 1-0, Rochester controlled the ball and was able to score two goals, both coming from big time scorer, Haskins. Doug Kingsbury had a great game, controlling the midfield all game. Keeper Cody Bowen was also able to hold his own and rack up the saves.

A good all-around effort for Rochester resulted in a 2-1 win.
