‘Raising the Ark in the Park’ Earned $1,500 for Heifer Intl. The Federated Church of Rochester’s Christian Education Committee sponsored a successful fundraiser for Heifer International on the Rochester Park last Saturday, Sept. 29. In three hours, the event raised $1,500 towards a Gift Ark through Heifer International. Amy Walker, Heifer International’s representative from Morrisville, gave an informative talk on the realities of hunger and Heifer International’s efforts to "end hunger and care for the Earth." There were crafts for children, musical entertainment provided by the Jubilee children’s choir and Steve and Jane Eubanks, food, a silent auction, and a petting zoo. "It shows what a small community of people who care can do to benefit the world—starting right here at home," said Anna Jordan, who was one of the organizers of the event. Sponsors for Raising the Ark on the Park included Brisk Acre Farms, Agway of Middlebury, Blue Seal Feeds, the Granville Bowl Mill, Vermont Country Soap, Danielle Aldregetti, Darline Rhoades, Adam Sherwin, Vermont HoneyLites, Dakin Farms, Central Supply, Mary Anne Schulze, Donna Bryan, Stan O’Neil, Julie Brown, North Hollow Farm, Terry Perkins, Hemlock Ridge Landscaping and Greenhouse, Steve and Jane Eubanks, and Joe Schenkman. Anyone who would like to help in this on-going campaign is invited to contact the Rochester Federated Church at 767-3012 and ask about the Gift Ark project. ____________ |
