VSO ‘Made in Vermont Festival’

Fall Tour at Chandler Oct. 6

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra will bring a musical harvest to towns across Vermont this autumn with its annual "Made in Vermont Music Festival." The popular series will come to the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph Saturday, Oct. 6 and to the Lebanon Opera House in Lebanon, N.H. Sunday, Oct. 7. Both performances are at 7:30 p.m.

The colorful program includes a quartet of serenades: two exuberant works by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky; a world premiere by Vermont composer Sara Doncaster called "Rush Patrick’s Vision;" and a special adaptation by Anthony Princiotti of Hugo Wolf's lighthearted Italian Serenade. Performances will be conducted by Anthony Princiotti.

Dr. Doncaster, director of the Warebrook Contemporary Music Festival, is composing a new work specifically for the tour. A lifelong Vermont resident, Doncaster was born and raised on her family’s 450-acre farm in Irasburg. She says "Rush Patrick’s Vision" was inspired by her high mountain family farm and the mystical healing power of the land. She will be present at each performance to talk about her new work.

Sponsorship of the Randolph performance is provided by Pomerleau Real Estate, Gifford Medical Center, the Three Stallion Inn and Vermont Technical College. Westaff is the sponsor of the Lebanon concert.

Tickets may purchased through the Flynn Regional Box Office at 802-86FLYNN, through the Mad River Valley Rotary Club and at Cover to Cover Books in Randolph. For more information call 800-876-9293, ext. 10.
