RANDOLPH—Walter H. Corbett, 79, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Jct. He was born October 8, 1927 in Boston, Mass., the son of Lawrence and Lillian (Hughes) Corbett. He was raised by his grandfather, Lawrence Corbett, and attended South Boston (Mass.) schools. He served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. Following his service, he returned to Boston and went to hairdressing school there. He operated his own beauty salon in East Boston for many years. He later worked in the maintenance department at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass., until his retirement. He moved to Randolph in 1992. He loved children and also enjoyed walking the Randolph streets and making friends with everyone he met. Survivors include four sons: Stephen Corbett of Springfield, Michael Corbett and Gregory Cobett, both of Queensbury, N.Y., and Jeffery Corbett of Rochester; three daughters: Sussanne Stone of Randolph Center, Irene Rich of Randolph, and Cynthia Chase of Braintree; a sister, Lillian Hayes of Winthrop, Mass.; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Corbett and two sisters, Louise Sinclair and Dorothy Corbett. Graveside memorial services were held Monday afternoon, Sept. 17 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, with Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. Family members shared remembrances and full military honors were accorded by the Air National Guard from Camp Johnson. A reception followed, hosted by the Randolph House.
