Chelsea Lady Red Devils By Joseph Bonasera The Chelsea Lady Red Devils came away with a win, defeating Twinfield 3-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 5. The match between the two teams seemed to be even, until partway through the first half. Twinfield’s Betsy Martin scored first off an Elsa Baker assist. The score remained that way until a few minutes before halftime; then Kim Upham tied the game at one each to end the half. Once the second half began it was pretty quiet until about 10 minutes remained in the game. Whitney Ladd gave the Red Devils a lead, and shortly after, the game was sealed by Michele Upham’s goal. The two teams had strong performances for their defense, but it still wasn’t enough for the 0-1 Trojans. Chelsea starts out the season at 1-0. Win Over Craftsbury The Chelsea Red Devils came away with a 5-0 win Friday against Craftsbury at home. Throughout the first half of the game both teams’ defenses were playing strong and hadn’t made any mistakes. However, once the second half rolled around Chelsea came out with intensity and scored five goals. The goals were tallied by sophomore Hillary Bonasera, senior Althea Spencer, senior Upham, junior Robyn Kennedy, and eighth grader Ladd. Chelsea knew they had to play harder and it showed on Friday. Chelsea improves to 2-0 and played Blue Mountain Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Blue Mountain. ____________ |
