The Randolph Boys soccer team played their third game of the season home against Northfield on Thursday, Sept. 6. The Guy Ghosts lost a hard-fought battle, 1-0.
From the kickoff Randolph looked strong, retaining possession and attacking the opponent’s goal for the majority of the time. But on a counter before the 20-minute mark, Northfield scored on a shot from outside the 18. The goal put them up 0-1 and was to be the only goal of the match.
Randolph did not attack with the same aggressiveness after the goal and because of that could never score the equalizer. Thus far in the season the defense and goalie Beau Handy have only allowed three goals in three games, a respectable number.
However the offense has only scored one goal in three games, an amount that does not merit any respect. The boys know what they need to work on, and are energized to score goals.
The Guy Ghosts hope to improve their scoring in rematches against Northfield, away on the 14th, and versus U-32, home on the 18th.
