Anna Washburn

BETHEL—Anna Olive Washburn, 91, of Bethel, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Bethel.

She was born October 24, 1915 in Rochester, the daughter of Abel O. and Winnabel Ida (Pike) Whitcomb. She was raised in Barnard and attended Barnard and Bethel schools, moving to Bethel in 1936. She married C. Harold Washburn June 3, 1936 in Bethel, and worked at Tozier’s Restaurant for 17 years. She had been a member of the Barnard Methodist Church, and enjoyed braiding rugs, knitting, and crocheting.

Survivors include her daughters, Winnabel Sinz, of Hauchuca City, Ariz.; and Mary Ann Griffin of Bethel; a son, Clayton Harold Washburn Jr. of Windsor; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband and her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Sept. 10 at the Green Mountain Gospel Chapel on Route 66 in Randolph, with Rev. Stephen Ellis and Rev. Ronald Rilling, officiating. Sandra Rilling was the organist. Rev. Rilling shared the 23rd Psalm, prayer and the message. The congregation sang "In the Garden" and "Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go." Rev. Ellis gave the eulogy, prayer and sermon. The songs "Until Then" and "It Is No Secret" were played.

Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Bethel. Pallbearers were Brian Griffin, Casey Griffin, Cody Griffin, Fred Griffin, Richard Washburn, and Elisha Washburn. A reception followed hosted by the Green Mountain Gospel Chapel. Calling hours were held Sunday evening at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
