Dirt Bike Track
Just Too Close

I read the Herald the week of Aug. 23 about the Timians going to the Royalton Selectboard about the dirt bike track. I then read the article about the track and events.

I thought it was a nice thing to do for the kids, and that was it. It did not affect me or impact my life. Then I was invited to dinner and an evening at the Timians. We were eating and visiting when the noise began. I wondered what it was but Laura was talking so I just waited.

Then this huge dust cloud came across the windows. At first I thought it was smoke, then realized it was the dirt bike track causing the noise and dust. Within a matter of minutes you could not see 10 feet outside. This family cannot be outside on their property while the bikers are riding. Nor can they have any open windows.

I wondered how I would feel if that was next to my home. I would not like it, would you? Everything on the lawn or porch has a thick layer of dirt after every dirt bike session.

How to resolve this? Maybe a high wall to keep the dirt on the bikers’ side and muffle the noise. Maybe relocating the trail. Maybe someone else has a better idea?

I don't feel that the Timians are being unreasonable to want this to stop, so they can enjoy their home and yard.
