Vermont Tech’s McCullough The Vermont Association of Student Financial Aid Advisors (VASFAA) recently honored Cathy McCullough, director of financial aid at Vermont Technical College, with its 2007 "Person of the Year Award." McCullough received the award during the association’s summer conference at the Killington Grand Hotel and Resort in Killington. "I was surprised and honored to be nominated by my peers," she says. "After 20 years in the industry, I am extremely thankful to my colleagues for all their help and humor along the way." McCullough has worked in financial aid since the mid-1980s and has been Vermont Tech’s financial aid director since 1996. She has been active in VASFAA ever since her early days in the field, serving as the association’s treasurer, secretary and president, chairing and co-chairing numerous committees, and serving on the association’s conference committee for many years. "Cathy epitomizes the volunteer spirit and leadership that has helped VASFAA provide opportunities for training, information, networking and advocacy for Vermont financial aid professionals for the past 38 years," said Yvonne Whitaker, the association’s past president. VASFAA presents the "Person of the Year Award" every year to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the financial aid profession in Vermont. The association is made up of financial aid officers at Vermont’s colleges and universities along with other professionals who help students finance their education. "The VASFAA organization itself has evolved over the years as the field of financial aid has changed," McCullough says. "I’m committed to the association, as it has always been a useful resource for training, education and colleague support." ____________ |
