John T. Bailey

WEST BROOKFIELD—John T. "Jack" Bailey, 65, died Monday at his home, after a farming accident.

Born in Denville, N.J., he moved with his wife and family to the homestead on Steele Hill in 1980.

He founded Brookfield Service, a generator sales and service business, which he owned and operated until October 2006, when he retired.

He served proudly in the Denville, N.J. Fire Department for 16 years. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, including his 1932 Rockne. He also took great pride in every goal scored by the Norwich hockey team.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Bailey; four sons, Jack Bailey of New Jersey, Chris Bailey of Georgia, Kevin Broderick of Hardwick, and Richard Bailey of Burlington; one daughter, Tracey Teates of New Jersey, and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Joan Hubbard of Texas and Bonnie Dux of Montana; and a brother, Richard Bailey of Texas.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield. The funeral service will be held at Northfield United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Northfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwich Hockey Team, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, Vt., 05663.
