On Saturday afternoon Pond Village took a big hit from the storm that came through our community. At one point we could not get out of town as trees were down on all the roads. Nathan Perry and Kirby Jedinak showed up with a chainsaw to clear Bridge Hill and Ralph roads. On Sunday, my neighbor, Richard Fink, and I cleaned up our yards with a chainsaw and piled up the limbs on the side of the road for removal at a later date. Some time later that afternoon I saw four pickup trucks come down Ralph Road, and Josh Farrington was one of the boys hauling limbs away from someone’s property up the hill. We spoke briefly about what he was doing and the pile of brush we had to remove sometime. About a half hour later, after getting cleaned up and ready to go out, I saw Josh and Jess, the same four pickups, and about eight of their friends parked at our brush piles, loading them on their trucks. I was surprised and pleased with their enthusiasm and told them they did not have to do that. They responded that they just wanted to help. Therefore, I want to publicly thank them for their random act of kindness. Ted Elzey Brookfield ____________ |
