A small structure used to store hay was destroyed by fire, after being struck by lightning during Saturday’s brief but wild storm.

The shed, not far from a residence and a horse barn, was on the Jeremy Hook property on Chelsea’s Klondike Road, according to Alan Ackerman, assistant fire chief for the Chelsea Fire Department.

Ackerman said the call for the fire, which was "definitely a lightning strike," came in at about 5:30 p.m. The shed was a total loss: "It was pretty well burned when we got there," Ackerman said.

The fast-moving storm had already mostly moved eastward by the time firefighters arrived. They remained on scene for about an hour, Ackerman said.
