So. Strafford Man’s ’57 Chevy Wins Top Award at Stowe Show
By John Freitag

Dick Josler of South Strafford drove away from the 50th anniversary antique car meet in Stowe with the "Best of Stowe" award, a special commendation to mark this important occasion.

His restored 1957 tropical turquoise Chevrolet Bel-Air convertible won the top prize at this three day event held August 10, 11 and 12. Sponsored by the Vermont Auto Enthusiasts, the event attracted 900 cars from up and down the East Coast and Canada to compete in what is considered one of the Top Ten Events in Vermont.

Dick says that this particular car, which he bought in Maine about six years ago, was a "real basket case. I literally brought the car back to Strafford in boxes and carefully rebuilt it. Scott Perkins of Bodyworks Unlimited did the paint job and helped on some of the body work."

A big Chevy fan, Josler has restored three Tri-5 Chevy hard tops (1955, 56 and 57) and has just one more car, a ’56 Chevy convertible, to go, to complete his Tri-5 Chevy convertible collection. Josler says he gets some help from Jim Kendall of South Strafford, who shares his love of these old autos.

Josler has won many prizes at shows with his cars, but says this latest one was something special.
