Walter W. Martin WINCHENDON, MASS. – Walter W. Martin, 84, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 at the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner, Mass. He was born in Brandon, December 2, 1922, the son of Herbert and Flora (Shonio) Martin and was educated in Rochester schools. He had lived in Winchendon, Mass. for over 50 years. He worked as a molder for many years at the Charles G. Allen Foundry in Barre. He served as an Army medic in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion. An avid NASCAR fan, he once owned a stock car, "Sweet 16." Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Helen I. (Shepard) Martin; five children: Michael W. Martin of Brattleboro, Sheree L. Grey and her husband, Raymond, of Leominster, Mass.; Sheila M. Martin of Brattleboro, Shelley L. Kunze and her husband, Steven, of Keene, N.H.; and Gordon E. "Pete" Martin of Athol, Mass.; two stepchildren, Helen Ann Salls of Bethel, and Evelyn Pearl Hukvari of Nashua, N.H; seven grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers: Warren Martin, Ira Martin and Glenn Martin. Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 24 at 12 noon at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rochester. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, Mass. is in charge of arrangements. ____________ |
