The Randolph Rotary Club raises thousands of dollars every year through a variety of fundraisers, and then promptly gives it away to dozens of good causes, from the local food shelf and scholarships to disaster relief projects in the U.S. and overseas. Rotary members are hoping to raise another $10,000 for good works on Saturday, Aug. 11, at a gala art auction at Vermont Technical College. "One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to needy people and organizations in our communities and to targeted international relief efforts," said member Brent Kay of Randolph. The Randolph Rotary Art Auction, produced by Marlin Art, will offer bidders a huge variety of works with a just-as-big range in prices. More details on items will be available in coming weeks, as the Rotary works with Marlin to select prints, paintings, watercolors, and other collectibles representing ticket-buyers stated interests. According to Rotary member Arnie Spahn, the collection will include pieces by local artists. The event will begin at VTC’s Morey Hall at 7 p.m., with a complimentary-wine-and-cheese preview hour, with bidding starting at 8 p.m. Tickets may be purchased from Kay, 728-5052 or Spahn, 728-4799. Local businessed stepping up to the plate to sponsor the auction are: Vermont Technical College, Gifford Medical Center, Randolph National Bank, Chittenden Bank, The Bare Mexican, and Richburg Builders. "During the past 10 years, the Randolph Rotary Club has donated over $150,000 to local and international causes," noted Kay. "For example, recently we have contributed greatly to relief efforts in Pakistan, Indonesia, and New Orleans. At the local level we have supported the Food Shelf, the Boys and Girls Club, White River Valley Ambulance, White River Craft Center, and student scholarships, just to name a few." ___________ |
