The Randolph Babe Ruth baseball team, consisting of 13 to 15-year-olds, wrapped up their season in Waterbury Saturday. Randolph lost to Harwood 10-7 in the end of the season tournament. Randolph switched to the Barre league this year. Waterbury scored four runs in the first inning, using a double, two singles, a walk and an error for the scores. Harwood added two more runs in the second for a 6-0 edge with three singles in a row. Randolph got on board in the third inning, scoring five runs of their own, cutting the gap to 6-5. The first four batters, Pat Lucenti, Thornton Raskevitz, Nik Bent and Jared Tucker, all walked and then went on to score. Tyler Boardman topped off the inning with a double, and came around to score, as well. Harwood answered with two more runs in the third to pull back ahead by three, 8-5. Harwood added an additional two runs in the fifth, as their team continued to hit the ball well. Randolph struck twice in the sixth inning with Sam Dyer and Katie Jickling both plating. Both platers had singles. Dustin Brassard nailed a double in the seventh and final inning but was left stranded. Tyler Boardman went the distance for the mound for Randolph and had five strike-outs. The Harwood pitchers had seven. The Randolph team ended its season 6-9 after going .500 for most of the season. The coaches were Tom Tucker, Steve Brassard, Rob Start and Scott LaFreniere. The players were: Nik Bent, Jared Tucker, Dustin Brassard, Tyler Boardman, Gunnar McIntyre, Sam Dyer, Katie Jickling, David Hostetter and Alex Start. Also on the team were: Pat Lucenti, Thornton Raskevitz, Tyler LaPerle, Tyler LaFreniere, Morgan Angell and Sam and Jay Hooper. ____________ |
