I can barely afford the taxes on my Randolph property and I feel like the town is squeezing every nickel out of me that it possibly can. If that isn’t bad enough, now the town is taking my tax rebate money, and your money too if you’re a Randolph taxpayer entitled to receive a rebate against your property taxes, and holding it to apply to our tax bills that are not due for four plus months from now. If our rebate money is more than we owe on our November 2007 bill, the town gets to hold the rest of our money until the spring of 2008 when our next tax bill is due. I think this scheme comes real close to stealing. Collectively it’s a lot of money the town can collect interest on for four or more months. This is so unfair. The amount of interest would not be nearly as much for each individual taxpayer, but in my opinion the town is not entitled to that interest money and the taxpayers are, and every nickel in our pocket helps with the bills . The taxpayers should be allowed to collect interest on their rebate money until their taxes are due.
