Well, maybe not your pet, but for real thrills nothing beats standing right there in the pit, lighting fuses and sending missiles into the night sky.

A 25-year fireworks veteran, DeRoss Kellogg, and his five-man crew from Chelsea and Bethel know this first hand. Careful preparation makes it a safe evening for the audience, but the crew enjoys concussive blasts, searing sparks, and blinding light.

Always vigilant, they are the sentinels of celebration. Happy fourth of July
