According to Brookfield school board member Bob Decker, the work of the Brookfield Elementary Facilities Review Committee is finished for now. Decker chaired the committee, which met throughout the last school year to address structural deficiencies and problems in the building, chiefly a leak in the roof. The leak was fixed last spring. This summer, after parking lot repairs, improvements to the North entrance, and the replacement of the school’s 40-year-old underground fuel tank, the building will be all caught up, Decker said. "If we do required maintenance, most of these major problems will never exist," said Decker. He sees no immediate need for any more major repairs, but suggested that "at some point it might make sense to replace the windows and siding." |
