BRUHS Class of ’57
Braintree-Randolph Union High School’s Class of 1957 celebrated its 50th reunion Sunday, July 1, beginning with the alumni brunch at the Three Stallion Inn. Twenty-seven members attended the brunch and enjoyed Ron Howard and Jack Cowdrey’s trip through downtown Randolph in the 50’s. Four more members joined the group later in the afternoon at Cowdrey’s house. The class organizers were pleased with the large turnout of 31 out of 42 graduates. At Cowdrey’s house classmates learned more news about classmates’ families, retirements, travels, addresses, and health. Liz Parker Catlett and her husband JT edited a well-received 50th yearbook with updated pictures and biographies and letters from former teachers. In addition, four former classmates who did not graduate with the class—Walter Arbuckle, Arthur Boright, Donna Manning Primrose, and Ron Sanford—attended one or both of these gatherings. Also joining the group at Cowdrey’s house were people related to three deceased class members and to a deceased former classmate: Patti Battles Welcom, Raymond Chase, Geri Tabor Davis, and Marcia Rattee King. On Saturday and Sunday a few of the class members dropped in on their first grade teacher, Laura Norton, who still lives with her husband in their own home near Cowdreys. At 94, she is still witty and fun to visit. Wanda Cox Howard, class president, led a brief class meeting after refreshments and the group picture. Already, the class members are looking forward to their next gathering in 2012. ____________ |
