While The Herald’s article last week accurately reflects the level of frustration and disagreement shared by both White River Valley Ambulance and the Town of Randolph, there are a few points I would like to clarify. First of all, while it is true that I believe I’ve become a distraction at the WRVA Board meetings and I disagree with the direction leadership of the board is heading, I feel that it’s only fair to state that I was treated with courtesy and respect by most of the individual board members, and I believe that WRVA Board members are generally concerned for the communities they serve. Secondly, it’s also only fair to point out that WRVA requested a budget increase of $38,112 from Randolph, not $450,000 as reported. Finally, I believe that Mr. Voci reported that our January payment to WRVA was delayed, not skipped, because of a difference in opinion on what was owed. That difference was resolved and the payment made in January. I would also like to add that I am buoyed by the fact that new WRVA board members are courageous in asking hard questions in order to improve the administration of our ambulance service. I am hopeful some common ground can be found in these efforts. Peter Butterfield Randolph Town Manager |
