Olney’s Offer Gets Radio Host In Hot Water (& Warm Milk) By Martha Slater Early risers on Thursday, June 21, who tune in to "Mike and Mike in the Morning," the #1 sports radio show in the U.S., at 8 a.m., will find co-host Mike Greenburg in hot water—or perhaps you could say warm milk instead. Buster Olney, brother of Sam Lincoln and Amelia Lincoln of Randolph Center, is the guest host on the popular show, aired on ESPN Radio and ESPN 2 TV. Every year, the two Mikes make their prediction on NCAA brackets and the loser has to take dare from the winner. This year, Olney, who grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Randolph Center, made the offer that one of the losers (who turned out to be Mike Greenburg) had to hand milk a cow. A Manhattan native, Greenburg will milk "Sox," a cow brought to the ESPN studio in Bristol, Conn. from a local farm. Ever the helpful brother, Sam has sent Buster the requisite barn garb of black rubber boots, Carhartt bib overalls, and a corn seed hat, so that Greenburg will be properly dressed for the occasion. Sam said he’d toyed with the idea of asking the Mikes to have Buster milk, "since it’s been about 25 years since he had his hands on a cow!" Sam also noted that Vt. Sec of Agriculture Roger Albee had issued a proclamation on behalf of Gov. Jim Douglas, granting Greenburg temporary one-day status as a Vermonter, in order to give him the proper credentials to milk a cow. ____________ |
