Rochester Re-Vote Okays Budget By a vote of 109-81 on Monday, June 18, Rochester citizens reaffirmed their support of the school budget. The proposed 2007-08 school year budget of $3,233,864 passed on a voice vote at the annual school meeting held May 7. However a legal petition was soon presented to the school board, challenging that decision. A noticeably larger crowd than had attended the prior meeting, assembled Monday night and Norm Pratt was elected as moderator. School board chair Tim Crowley thanked the community for its "support of the budget and the work of the school board," and asked for community volunteers to serve on various school committees. "We need all the help we can get," he said. "We do not have the luxury to have a hands off approach to all the challenges that pop up." ____________ |
