4th of July Parade
To Take New Route

The Randolph Fourth of July Parade is just two weeks away and there are important changes in the route that residents, businesses and participants should be aware of, according to Chamber executive director Lynn Irish.

The changes will affect the latter half of the route. The parade begins as usual on Maple Street, traveling on Earle Street and Highland Avenue, then back to RT 12 and downtown on Main Street.

At that point, the change occurs. The parade will here turn left on Salisbury Street to Summer and exit on School Street. Entrants must either go back out to Main Street and across the bridge to go out of town or go to the end of School Street, return on Weston and wait for the end of the parade.

All this is due to bridge construction and the closure of Prince Street on the south end, which will leave an opening for through traffic and emergencies from the bridge to South Pleasant Street and Beanville Road.

Road closures: The entrance and exits to Salisbury Street, Summer Street, Franklin Street, School Street and Main Street in front of the business block will be closed on Wednesday, July 4 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. (please refer to the map in next weeks supplement).

"We regret that the prime viewing area in front of the business block can not be utilized this year and ask for everyone's patience and assistance when making plans to see the parade," Irish said.

Parking: Parking can be utilized in the municipal lot on Pleasant Street, the lot on the corner of Pearl and Pleasant known as Branchwood and down on Prince Street near Valley Bowl.

Many aspects of the events will remain the same however. The post-parade celebration will take place in the municipal parking lot with booth participants taking part to make a full day of activities, food and fun.

This is a great way for non-profits and youth groups to raise funds for their organizations/groups. The third annual Chamber Chili Challenge will take place as well. Parade entrants are also welcome.

Deadlines to sign up for either is this Friday, June 22. Please call the chamber today for information on how to participate in all the activities.
