Tae Kwon Do Tourney The 8th Annual Blue Wave Tae Kwon Do Kids Tournament was held Saturday, May 19, at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center. Over 115 kids from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Connecticut, ranging in ages from 3 to 15 competed in sparring and doing their poomse forms. The youngest competitor was 3-year-old Britney Buckholts of Randolph who is a student of Master Tom Chase (5th degree Black belts) and Master Peter Chase at their dojang in Randolph. Britney won a gold doing her kibon. Other students of the Chases who brought home medals were as follows: Jennifer Chase, 15, (1st degree Black Belt) won a gold in sparring after competing in five different matches and a bronze in forms. Kimberly Buckholts, 9, recommended poomse black belt won a silver in sparring and a bronze in forms. Connor Papp, 9, high green belt, won a bronze in sparring and a bronze in forms. Philip J. Papp, 6, yellow belt, won a bold in sparring and a silver in forms and Libby Papp, 8, high white belt, won a gold in sparring and a gold in forms. Austen Tallman, 10, high green belt, won a bronze in sparring and in forms. Peter Tallman, 9, green belt, won a bronze in sparring and a bronze in forms; and Cora Tallman, 6, white belt, won a bronze in forms. Steven Neas, 15, high yellow belt, won a silver in sparring and bronze in forms. Mariah Hackett, 10, high yellow belt, won a gold in forms and a silver in sparring. John Hackett, 8, high white belt, also won a gold in forms and a bronze in sparring. Hunter Russell, 8, high white belt, won a silver in forms and a bronze in sparring. Each year the tournament is held in memory of the late Grand Master Bruce V. Twing who started the Blue Wave Tae Kwon Do School in Vermont. ____________ |
