Priscilla B. Larson BARNARD—Priscilla Beane Larson, 75, of Barnard, died Monday, May 28, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 16, 1931, in Doylestown, Penna., the daughter of S. Robert Beane and Kathryn (Hibbs) Beane. She grew up in Bala Cynwyd, Penna., graduating from Lower Merion High School in 1949, and from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1952. She worked in various capacities as a registered nurse, most recently as an oncology nurse with the Norwalk Medical Group in Norwalk, Conn. On June 13, 1953, she married John H. Larson. With her husband, she lived in Boston, Mass.; Sasebo, Japan; Hagerstown, Md.; and Westport, Conn. She retired with her husband to Barnard in 1993, after having vacationed there since 1949. She was an active member of Christ Church, Bethel, and served as senior warden. She also served on the standing committee and commission on ministry, Episcopal Diocese of Vermont. She was a trustee of the Charles B. Danforth Library in Barnard, and a member of the PEO sisterhood. She cared greatly for others, thinking of their needs before her own. She was nurturing, kind, and she always had a smile on her face. Priscilla received the most joy in her life by being with her family. She arranged family gatherings that ranged from sailing on the Chesapeake Bay to vacations on Amelia Island, Fla., where she and her husband have spent time for the past 25 years. She and John traveled extensively overseas. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Michael Larson, his wife, Linda, and their children Matthew, John, and Kathryn of Westford, Mass.; Christopher Larson, his wife, Lynne, and their daughter Amelia of Andover, N.J.; and Cynthia Larson Kline, her husband, Christopher, and their children Robert and Carter and her step-granddaughter, Laura, of Essex Junction. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Bickelhaupt of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and her brother, S. Robert Beane, Jr. of Far Hills, N.J. A memorial service celebrating her life will be Friday, June 8, 11 a.m., at Old Christ Church on Route 12 in Bethel. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of Vt. and N.H., at PO Box 976, White River Junction, 05001, or to the Barnard Fire Department in Barnard, 05031. ____________ |
