Braintree Kids Spend 2 Days With Real Poet On June 4-6, children at Braintree School will enjoy two full days of guidance and encouragement from poet Marv Klassen-Landis. This is part of a Writing Workshop Program run by the Children’s Literacy Foundation. The Writing Workshop Program brings professional authors and poets to spend two days directing exciting writing workshops. These workshops are provided at no charge and are designed to give children from K-6 a fresh perspective on the process and pleasures of writing. A performer, writer, educator, and arts education consultant, Klassen-Landis is the authorillustrator of "Jump, Children, Jump" and the co-author of "Please Talk with Me." He writes poetry and fiction for children and adults and leads workshops, residencies, and family poetry parties. He co-founded Children’s Voices Theatre and is the managing editor of Poetryfish.com. "Reading provides a window out into the world, and writing provides a way to share oneself with the world," says Landis, "reading inspires my writing and writing inspires more reading." The Children’s Literacy Foundation is based in Waterbury Center. It does not receive any federal or state funds. |
