On Monday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. the Randolph selectboard will meet with interested citizens at Clover Hill Road to view the site. Afterward, at 7 p.m. at the town hall, they will discuss a possible discontinuance of the road. Clover Hill is a class 4 road that runs between Stock Farm Road and Fish Hill Road through the Stock Farm property. It is used by many members of the community that do not live within the Stock Farm housing development. I encourage all interested parties to attend the sessions, whether you are users of Clover Hill Road or not. Class 4 roads are cultural and historical resources for the community, and a discontinuance is not to be taken lightly. We have very few such roads in Randolph today. New England has a strong tradition of public access to land that stands in stark contrast to the traditions of Europe and the Southern United States. Many people, including hikers, snowmobilers, ATVers, mountain bikers and history buffs have caught the bug of "Class-4ing." Once You’ve got it, You’re hooked for life. It is part of what makes Vermont a special place and we shouldn’t give up a piece of it without careful consideration Peter Magoon Randolph Center |
