The Wednesday, May 30, 3 p.m. ceremony at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center will feature the annual, spectacular massing of the colors by National Guard, veterans organizations, and Junior ROTC. Although Vermont recently adopted the federal standard of observing Memorial Day on the last Monday in May, the cemetery will still conduct its ceremony on the traditional day. "We understand the reasons behind the change," said Clayton Clark of the Office of Veterans Affairs, "but our ceremony is about Vermont’s tradition of sacrifice, so it feels right that we continue to recognize this sacrifice on May 30th." The keynote speaker for this event is Gov. Jim Douglas. For more information, contact Edward Burkart, cemetery supervisor at the Office of Veterans Affairs, 802-828-3379.
