3 More Wins for RUHS Girls Lax
By Kelsey Inzer

Randolph defeated U-32, the 2006 state champions, for the first time in several years on Friday evening. Randolph knew the game wouldn’t be easy, but came out and scored the first three goals of the game—one by Brook Sargeant, another by Brynn Fabian and the third by Sarah Kresock.

U-32 scored their first goal of the game with 13:02 remaining in the first half. Shelby Peltier followed by scoring three goals in a row to put Randolph up 6--1 with 1:22 remaining. U-32 still managed to find the goal, with eight seconds left before half time, to bring the tally to 6-2 RUHS.

Randolph scored four goals in a row to give them a 10-4 lead in the second half, but with 9:53 remaining, U-32 found the net once again. The Ghosts added two more to U-32’s three, to end the game at 12-6.

Peltier ended the game with six goals and one assist while Sargeant finished with three goals. Kelsey Inzer also added one goal and two assists and Erica Weber tallied up 12 saves.

Forfeit

The game on May 12 was forfeited by Oxbow due to lack of players on their end, giving the Ghosts the win and an 8-0 record.

At Home

Randolph extended its perfect record to 9-0 by defeating Rice Memorial on Tuesday with a score of 16-8. The Ghosts came out strong with S. Peltier scoring a goal in the opening 24 seconds and they never let up. Randolph increased their lead to 3-0 within the first 90 seconds.

Rice then stepped up to make the score 3-2, but Randolph rallied back to an 8-4 lead. With 40 seconds left before half time, both Erika Smith and Inzer managed to find the net before the buzzer, bringing Randolph to a 10-4 score at half time.

Intense defense was played by Melissa Perkins, Hannah Scott, and Heather Surprenant who only allowed four more goals by Rice to slip past them. Strong offense also lifted the Ghosts as they scored six more goals in the second half, the last of which was scored by Inzer with 56 seconds left in regulation.

Inzer finished the game with six goals while teammates Smith, Sargeant and both Peltier sisters scored two. Fabian and Bridget Harty added the last two goals for the Ghosts and Weber had 13 saves.

The Ghosts travel to Chelsea on Friday the 18th and host U-32 Saturday the 19th for two tough games in a row.
