RTCC Senior

Cody Montgomery of Braintree, a senior at the Randolph Technical Career Center, has been chosen to receive the 2007 Land Stewards Award from the Vermont Land Trust.

Cody was informed of the honor in a letter from the Land Trust this week. It comes with a $250 check and a certificate of achievement.

According to the letter, the award "is given to students who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to land stewardship in the fields of forestry or agriculture."

The letter explained that "people who work the land are critical to this mission. In particular, we realize that it is the young people of today who hold the key to a vibrant working landscape in Vermont."

Cody was recommended for the award by his instructor at RTCC, Gerry Reymore,, because of his "hard work at school and enthusiasm for working on the land," the letter said.

The time and date of the award presentation is still to be determined.

Cody is the son of Chris and Jill Montgomery of Braintree and began working in the woods at a young age.
