Chelsea Girls Lax Wins 3

The Chelsea Lady Devils hosted Sharon Academy last Wednesday, May 2, in girls’ lacrosse action. Chelsea’s solid defense and a quick offense led them to an 11-5 victory.

Kim Upham led the Devils with four goals, Lindsey Smith tallied three, Michelle Upham put two in the back of the net and Jodi Emerson and Mary Childs added one each. Chelsea goalie Hillary Bonasera had five saves in goal.

Chelsea vs. Rice

Last Saturday Chelsea ate up Rice with Sam Bonasera starting the game off with a quick goal within a minute.

Chelsea tallied two more before Rice knocked one in. The Lady Devils tallied five more goals through assists and quick passes to lead them into a halftime edge of 7-2.

Chelsea continued to play tough defense and patient offense with no available substitutes as injuries have struck the Devils. Althea Spencer dominated the draws and led the scoring with four goals. K. Upham sent three into the net and S. Bonesera tallied two. M. Upham, Emerson, and Morgan Wadkins added one each for the final score, 12-4. H. Bonesera stopped eight shots from Rice.

Chelsea vs. Lamoille

On Tuesday, May 8, Chelsea traveled to Lamoille Union High School in Hyde Park and dominated the game to come away with a 16-4 win.

Chelsea’s fast breaks dominated the game. H. Bonasera and L. Upham split time in the goal for Chelsea and had seven saves each. In the second half Chelsea cleaned up their defense and almost had a second half shutout but Lamoille found the back of the net with one second remaining in the game.

K. Upham and Spencer were Chelsea’s high scorers with four goals each, S. Bonasera added three, M. Upham had two and Emerson and Wadkins had one each.

Chelsea’s record improves to 4-1 and they will travel to Montpelier Friday and travel to Burr and Burton Saturday.
