A Celebration
For Clara

Wednesday, May 29 will be Clara Jobes Day in Randolph, per order of the Randolph selectboard, it was voted Tuesday evening.

A potluck celebration will be held that day to honor the longtime volunteer as she leaves Randolph to take up residence with her son and daughter-in-law Vernon and Linda in DeKalb, N.Y.

The potluck will be held at Bethany Church, starting about 6 p.m.

"There is much excitement about giving this special lady a loving and appreciative send-off, since she has invested her life in this community and beyond," explained Shirley Whittier Huang, one of the organizers.

Jobes’ many contributions resulted in her being honored by Gov. Douglas in 2005.

The celebration will include a card basket and a "programette," she said.

Jobes has two other children: Evangeline in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Alvin in South Weymouth, Mass. She has eight grandchildren and 18 great-granchildren.

Anyone who would like to help organize and participate in this joyful affair should contact Martha Hafner at 728-4860 or Shirley Huang at 728-5004 or 802-558-1282
