RANDOLPH—John B. Nugent, 91, formerly of Braintree, died early Monday morning, April 30, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1916 in Winthrop, Mass., the son of Christopher and Mary (Dempsey) Nugent. He was edcucated in Winthrop Public Schools and received his mechanical engineering degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1937. He worked for General Electric, Polaroid, Arthur D. Little, and the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory at M.I.T. He worked on the Polaris Submarine Missile Program, and the Man to Moon Project in the 1960s. He lived in Winthrop, Mass. for 59 years, until coming to Vermont in 1973. He was a member of Sts. Donatian & Rogatian Catholic Church, and enjoyed sailing, motor boating, and traveling. Survivors include his sister, Mary Nugent of Randolph; and a brother, Christopher Nugent of Sarasota, Fla. He was predeceased by two sisters, Therese Nugent and Ruth Murray. A memorial mass was held Wednesday, May 2 at Saints Donatian & Rogatian Catholic Church in Randolph, with Rev. John Milanese officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Winthrop, Mass. There were no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home of Randolph. ____________ |
