The Randolph skateboard park will be closed at least temporarily and will be inspected by the town’s insurance carrier, the Randolph Selectboard agreed at its April 24 meeting. Closing the facility had been recommended by the Recreation Committee at an earlier meeting, but the board asked for more study of the proposal. The meeting on the 24th included a couple of young people who use the skateboard park, along with a report from the Boys and Girls Club, according to Seletboard Chair Jim Hutchinson. It was agreed that the Club will take a look at other skateboard parks, accompanied by interested youths, so that hopefully a park can be set up either at its current location on Prince Street or somewhere else. Concern was expressed that some of the wood was rotten in the supports of the skateboard ramps. Also, use this last summer was down. Since the resignation of Dawn Butterfield from the selectboard, the Recreation Committee has not had a chairperson. Currently, new Selectman Ken Goss is acting chair. |
